Koy Kien lives with his wife and five children in the village of Bekkam Phlerng, in Soutr Nikom District, rural Western Cambodia.

Koy Kien grows rice and vegetables to support the needs of his large family. The family lives in a house built from wood and own an oxcart, bike and motor, which they use to get to town.

Before receiving a water filter from Trailblazer, Koy Kien’s family drew water from a traditional pit which had to be boiled and cooled before consuming. Despite taking these precautionary methods, a member of his family fell ill every two weeks.
